Changes for UpperArlingtonRadio.com

Date: June 28, 2011
upperarlingtonradio.com

UpperArlingtonRadio.com launched back in 2009 with a clear vision of the future of how community radio would look, sound and be used. Mike Holman founded the station and passed the baton of that vision onto Marty Daniels in May of this year. Daniels hit the ground running. In addition to personally visiting several area businesses, he has emceed events and filed reports from The Farmers Market and Music in the Park Series with more to come throughout the summer.

What changes can we expect to UpperArlingtonRadio.com?

"We're working every day to add programs and elements that will be entertaining and informative.

Two such programs will be produced ON LOCATION including "The Upper Arlington Coaches Show at Louie's" which will feature a different varsity team and coach each episode. If that goes well we would love to include the various clubs and organizations from the school. We encourage people to come out and be part of the audience and part of the show.

The second is "The Upper Arlington Business Showcase" which is in association with the Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce and it will be anything but your "usual" business show. I PROMISE. Upper Arlington has a lot of incredible businesses and individual entrepreneurs that we want to introduce in a different light. It gets easy to remove the faces from the "big business" and we undervalue the "up and comer" so we'll talk about business but we'll also talk about other topics and include others in the conversation. It'll be fun!

What is your background in radio?

"I spent nearly 20 years in radio here in Columbus and around the country (either virtually or in person) with stations in Dayton, Columbus, Tampa, Chicago and yes, I survived Toledo! In 1994 I started helping friends market their business and services online a a night job until I left radio in 2002 to perform stand up comedy."

What do you want to accomplish with UpperArlingtonRadio?

"We're on the cusp of something great not only for UpperArlingtonRadio.com but for Upper Arlington as a community and for the entire concept of local internet radio as a whole. The technology is finally here and accessible enough where an Internet based station can be heard everywhere an AM or FM station can be heard. I want to be the guy who helps the media make that transition and I want the radio station to be something the entire community can be proud of."
