Business owners reach out to mentor students |

| Business owners reach out to mentor students for this year’s business start up. Students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship & Management class at Upper Arlington High School are participating again this year in a Business Plan Competition. Students are being asked to create an idea for a start up business and will complete all the necessary steps to form a business plan based on their idea. The top 3-6 proposals at the end of the semester will be honored at the Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce Business Expo dinner on January 30, 2010 at Hastings Middle School. To help create an authentic learning experience for the students, local members of the Upper Arlington business community are volunteering their time and expertise to serve as mentors throughout the semester to the seventeen students in the class. Volunteers include: • Becky Hajost, Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce President • Matthew Shad, Deputy City Manager-Economic Development • Wesley Newhouse, Newhouse, Prophater, Letcher, and Moots LLC • Mark Carpenter, Sprint Cellular • Jim Hyre, Raymond James Financial Services • Tony Macaluso, Coldwell Banker King Thompson, Macaluso Landscaping • Herb Gillen, Herb Gillen Agency • Robert Radcliff, Resource Development Group • Mark Pottschmidt, Stanbery Development • Al Steigerwalt, Cartridge World • Eric Columbo, The Arlington Bank Three guest speakers are scheduled to visit the class to help share their real world experiences in their respective areas.
